Each year, hundreds of birds are killed by window collisions on Yale’s campus. At this lunch and learn, find out about efforts to make Yale University and Evans Hall more bird-friendly from two experts leading the Yale Bird-Friendly Building Initiative: Viveca Morris, research scholar and executive director of the Law, Ethics, and Animals Program at Yale Law School, and Kristof Zyskowski, director of the vertebrate collections at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. Hear about the threats that birds face from glass on our campus, studies underway to document and understand the problem, and steps being taken by Yale administrators, including at SOM Evans Hall, to prevent collisions with glass treatments. Organized by the SOM Business and the Environment Student Group & LEAP Grant Recipient Meredith Barges DIV’23. Co-sponsored by YSE Birding SIG & YDS Common Ground. Lunch provided.
